The 1st Symposium on Materials and Manufacturing Technology (MMT), jointly organized by the Thin Film Society, and Harbin Institute of Technology, and hosted by Pashanhu of Scholars and Engineers – PASE, will be held in Zhangjiajie, China, from April 9 to 11, 2027. Focusing on the cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields of materials science and intelligent manufacturing, the conference covers the entire innovation chain—from fundamental materials design and AI-accelerated R&D to advanced manufacturing processes, digital factories, and sustainable technologies. It aims to break down disciplinary barriers, drive paradigm shifts in materials and manufacturing, and provide a premier platform for global scholars and engineers to exchange ideas.
The conference is chaired by Professor Sam Zhang, a renowned materials scientist and President of the Thin Film Society, who serves as both the Academic Lead and Conference Chair. The program will feature plenary keynote speeches, oral presentations, poster sessions, and an academic excursion to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. The organizing committee extends a cordial invitation to researchers, engineers, and graduate students worldwide from academia and industry to join us in this grand event.

Deep within the Wuling Mountains, three thousand fantastical peaks pierce the sky while eight hundred streams wind gracefully through the valleys—this is Zhangjiajie, a poetic landscape sculpted by nature over hundreds of millions of years. Its quartz sandstone pinnacles rise like ink-washed blades through drifting clouds, evoking a vast, living scroll of traditional Chinese ink painting. Recognized by UNESCO as both a World Natural Heritage Site and one of the world's first Global Geoparks, Zhangjiajie offers far more than scenic grandeur: it is a sanctuary where scholars can retreat from the clamor of the mundane and let their thoughts resonate with the quiet majesty of the natural world.
At dawn, one watches sea of clouds churn across a thousand summits; by afternoon, a walk along the Golden Whip Stream reveals crystal waters murmuring over jade-colored stones; as dusk settles, a cup of sweet, lingering vine tea shared beneath the eaves of a Tujia stilted pavilion, amid the vibrant patterns of Xilankapu brocade, allows academic inspiration to meet the wild spirit of the mountains. The breathtaking wonder of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is, in itself, an unplanned intellectual expedition—each step upward a redefinition of the unknown.
